Courier Deliveries - what you need to know...

We use TNT courier service to send out our Nourish Kefir drinks to customers all over the UK.
When we confirm your delivery we will inform you of the 'Courier Drill', which is basically letting you know how TNT operate in order to have a smooth delivery.
Your Nourish Kefir orders should arrive on the day we confirm between Tuesday to Friday.
Unfortunately, sometimes couriers fail to deliver!  The usual reason for this is:
1. They cannot find your property
2. The van breaks down
3. They run out of driving hours
4. In-accessible roads - e.g. due to flooding
5. No one is home to sign for the goods

Please help us by letting us know if your address is a bit tricky to find or has restricted access such as closed gates, or restricted parking.

We know it is a pain having to wait in for a courier - so we ask that if you are going out - even just for 5 mins, you leave a signed note with instructions for the courier, telling them to leave the box somewhere safe - such as behind the recycle bin, in the shed or porch, or with a neighbour.  TNT will take your note as proof of delivery.

Should the worst happen and you don't get a delivery on the day you are expecting we ask you to contact TNT customer services (Tel: 0800100600).  The reason why we ask you to call is that it is easier to re-arrange delivery with TNT directly , and pass on any instructions to them, that we do not have 'authority' to do!  Please do inform us though as we will be working at our end to assist in any way we can!

At Nourish Kefir we are devoted to making the best kefir for you! We wrap your orders with care to arrive with you in perfect condition and we are gutted if your delivery goes wrong!  We know that not everything is in our control - nor that of the driver! We also greatly appreciate all your efforts to assist us with the courier deliveries to make sure your order arrives in good condition and on time!

Organic Milk

At Nourish Kefir we only use full fat - whole organic cow's milk.

This milk is certified organic by the Soil Association, and our business is certified by the Organic Food Federation.

We use organic milk that has been pasteurised and homogenised. We know that some people prefer raw milk, and that's great! But in our experience we have had wonderful results making kefir with pasteurised milk.

Some people ask if the milk has lost all it's goodness? We don't think so. We have tested the milk in the UK's leading laboratory to count how many bacteria are in Nourish Kefir after fermentation. It's a lot! It was so many billion that we had to check it was right?

Kefir just loves cows milk. It is so perfect with just the right amount of fat, protein, carbohydrate and natural water to make our lovely kefir. During fermentation kefir cultures 'digest' the milk, making it thicker and at the same time easier for us to digest. The bacteria multiply on a massive scale and naturally enrich the milk (without the need to add sugar).

The end result is the transformation of milk to kefir. Kefir is no longer milk, just as cheese or butter is no longer milk - although they are all made from milk!

We also use homogenised milk because the fat is evenly distributed and gives a lovely creamy smooth taste to the kefir.

Making kefir with Starter Cultures, how to tell when it's ready?

Here is the second part, the next day we check to see if our starter cultures are ready

Part 2. 24 hours later.. the kefir made with starter cultures is ready (July 2011)

Fruit Kefir Smoothies

Have you tried our delicious kefir smoothies?

We have blended fruit purees with our traditional organic kefir and sweetened with organic agave nectar for a delicious treat.

Our current flavours are Strawberry, Peach and the tangy combination of Blueberry and Pomegranate (which is our most popular flavour!). We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Like everything we do, these smoothies are alive with all the bacteria from the kefir, and never contain preservatives or additives, which makes it difficult to send them for home order because they need to be kept really cold!
However, You can find our kefir smoothies in selected shops - let us know if you need assistance in finding them!

Easy recipes and ways to enjoy kefir

We've experimented in the kitchen and come up with a few quick and easy ideas for Nourish Kefir...

Breakfast!

For a nourishing and filling start to the day we recommend Nourish Kefir (instead of milk), poured over muesli with chopped banana - it tastes great! It's filling and also helps curb mid-morning sugar cravings - to keep you going until lunch time.

Breakfast Brain Boost!

Here's a delicious and fast way to get your brain working in the morning. In a blender, pour 1/2 bottle of kefir, 1 chopped banana, 1 tsp blackstrap molasses - and 3 tsp millet flakes. Blend for about 10 seconds then it's ready to drink. It tastes really good - takes about 1 minute to make and gives your brain a great start to the day!

Smoothies

We think Nourish Kefir is the perfect base ingredient in a smoothie. It is particularly good with thick rather than juicy fruits. Kefir is also great poured over a fresh fruit salad.

Kefir and peach juice

Peach juice
Kefir
Fill the glass to ¾ full of kefir and top up with peach juice and mix with a stirrer, it tastes delicious and not too sweet.

(Try a glass of kefir with a dollop of honey too!)

Banana kefir smoothie

1 medium ripe banana
200 ml kefir
Roughly chop up a ripe banana and put in the blender, top up with kefir and blend for 5-10 seconds, the above amount provides one serving. It doesn't go thick like a milk-shake

Banana and strawberry kefir smoothie

I small ripe banana
6 ripe strawberries
250 ml Nourish Kefir

Chop the fruit and place all ingredients in blender and mix for 10 seconds
Alternative soft fruits could be raspberries, blueberries or kiwis, nectarines or peaches in any combination you like!

Here's a recipe from Donna S, who says: A friend made me a smoothie with your Kefir and now I am hooked! I buy Kefir and add a banana, some barley powder and organic frozen blueberries, strawberries and use a Braun immersion blender for a healthy smoothie. Thanks for a great product which makes people healthier and happier!

Chocolate kefir smoothie

250 ml (1/2 bottle) of Nourish Kefir
1 tbs raw cocoa powder
1 tbs agave nectar or honey
sprinkling of raw cacao nibs

This is great for chocolate lovers and delicious. We discovered raw cacao powder and raw chocolate nibs in 2006 these are not sweet which is why you need the agave nectar or honey. Agave nectar is a natural prebiotic, which means it is indigestible sugar and therefore suitable for diabetics. This is a filling smoothie for guilt free chocolate indulgence! Place all ingredients in a blender and mix for 10 seconds enjoy! Also great with added banana

Home Baked Bread

We've used kefir in home-made bread recipes that require milk or sour milk, using either gluten-free flour or wholemeal flour - It tastes so good, especially warm from the oven with some butter. We've varied our recipe to make cheese scones and fruit scones using Nourish Kefir. It went down very well at the Real Food Festival in April this year.
